Are you one of those people who fritter more time in your car than in your own home? Maybe because there's more occupant in your home compared to your car that is exclusively for yourself and you have the sole sanction of whom you will want to invite inside. However, despite their attention on their car, most of the time, they tend to neglect organizing it well. Why is it so? You know, there's really nothing wrong if you pamper your car because, yes, that's your second home. Conversely, when the car gets really too messy, organizing it seems so off-putting just like organizing a closet in a well-ordered arrangement. So for all of you who have troubles in organizing your own car, take these five easy steps.
Sort and clean up.
Slowly take everything out of your car including seats, car stereo, and other miscellaneous items that are stored inside the glovebox and door pockets. Just do it in a mild way. Also, don't forget the trunk and cargo area because this is the place where trash and dust accumulates. Start organizing those items into piles. Arrange stuff that you use all the time, and separate the other stuffs that you only use occasionally. Those stuffs that were left should be kept in your garage. Clean the entire interior but be extra careful so that you will not wound some surface before you bring back those things inside your car.
Analyze.
Determine your priorities. You may begin by understanding the use of your car in your life. You know, car is a necessity for everybody, but for a purpose. Ask yourself "how do I use my car?" and your answer to that question can help conclude and resolve your trouble in car management.
Prioritize.
When you already determine your needs, go back to your arranged stuffs and prioritize the most important stuff. For example, you cannot drive without music. Then you must set in place your favorite CD's on top where you can easily grab it so that you won't be cramming along just to find it. Learn to prioritize the most important one, whatever it is.
Contain your needs.
Remember that loose objects inside your car leads to disorganization and mess. When a sudden stop or crash occurs, these loose objects can aggravate injuries and can inflict damage to your car. Look for some beneficial automotive accessory such as cargo containers and organizers, CD holders and storage, leak-proof litter bags, to make your stuff set in place. There are lots of automotive accessories that you can find in the auto accessory shops, but make sure to buy only those that are very beneficial to you and your car.
Store.
Store stuffs and items that you use regularly in places where you can easily reach them. Put your insurance information, maps, directions, and other documents together in the glovebox so that you can easily grab them at the most needed time. Be creative about storing lesser-used and seasonal items. Often times, there are nooks and crannies around the spare tire and in the rear walls of the car which holds a small first-aid kit, jumper cables or roadside flares. Point out hooks and cubbies that you might have been overlooked. Store those items in a well-secure place but not too hard to get.
Don't put anything on the floor.
Unless it is designed to sit there, never put anything on your vehicle's floor. The moment you start messing your own floor, it will now be very easy to keep doing it from time to time. Have some discipline if you really want your car be totally organized. And it all depends on you.
A well-organized car is much better that a well-dressed car. Think about it.
